Marilyn Hudson Brave Conversations

The Marilyn Hudson Brave Conversations Project draws community members to The Study, celebrating the value of lifelong learning through tribal historian Marilyn Hudson’s legacy. A respected elder of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara tribes from the Fort Berthold Reservation, she believed in making space at the table for everyone and that differences did not have to lead to division. Widely recognized as one of the foremost experts in the nation on the cultural and archaeological history of the Village Indians of the Upper Missouri River, Marilyn served as the tribal historian for over thirty years and was the director of the Three Tribes Museum in New Town, North Dakota. This in-person series honors the free exchange of ideas with all people, centered around topics that explore what it means to be human.
